Veterans for Peace led the march, sharing their boisterous call-and-response chants with hundreds of marchers. Typical of today's peace demonstrations, Veterans of US wars against Iraq, Vietnam, (and countless other nations which have never attacked the United States,) took to the stage, sharing their experience and conclusions. |

Giant puppets play a big part in peace rallies. They are designed, built and operated by teams who cooperate in creating the illusion of animation.
There's also a more sinister message buried in this medium, ...the idea that wars involve "puppets" in the context of pawns and "puppet regimes." The Bread and Puppet Theater of Burlington Vermont is a major player in the Giant Puppet world of Political Theater. They are associated with the Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society marching band (video) who played in today's march. |

Here, "Freedoom" is seen beside one of his human companions. Spontaneous Celebrations of Jamaica Plain (Boston,) also creates giant puppets. They are brought out each year on the first saturday in May for their "Wake Up The Earth" Festival. "Freedoom" (I think he's just adorable! Don't you?) refers to the Amerikkkan® idea that our "freedoms" include executing industrialized mass murder on the whim of an elite classs whose numbers are shrinking as their powers expand. ...But all power really comes from The People, and when we realize this, we are unstoppable. |

This Stilt-Walker appears to be riding on someone else's back. (perhaps, like the puppets, that's another analogy for the war industry!) It was scary, but it's my job to investigate. Compared to my ongoing ground and subsequent court battles with a crooked and insane MBTA traincop that started just a short walk from this spot, this was tame.

Non-Corporate PressI phoned in a report of this event for Truth and Justice Radio (WZBC-FM) on Sunday morning, and we advised our listeners to tune over to WMBR-FM for Chuck's recordings. Chuck U, formerly of No Censorship Radio, recorded the main stage through the PA sound board. He aired his recordings the following day on No Censorship Radio, a program I worked on years ago, providing numerous live recordings, many of which were used to kick off the program. NCR is no longer on the air. This was a special resurrection edition. |

The SoniKartThis photo shows a sign that was part of a campaign to "Free The SoniKart!" The SoniKart is a self-powered and self-contained rolling Public Address and recording system. It was present at this demonstration for Veterans to use in the march. It was stolen (seized) by Boston Police Superintendent Dunford at a protest of Dick "Halliburton" Cheney, and ordered returned by the Boston Municipal Court.
