This group has been demonstrating every Saturday at park Street Station for years. At the same time, over a thousand rallied at Boston's Government Center before a march which would pass by here on the way to the Park Plaza Hotel, the home of the Israeli Consulate. (Related report: 04/08/2002)

This group and their opponents, mostly Vietnam Veterans, have gone toe to toe each weekend. The scene fluctuates between a reasonable and enlightening debate and a socially retarded free for all. The protestors fairly well thought out expressions are constantly assaulted by the counterprotesters' often irrational and angry rhetoric. The counterp[rotesters methods consist simply of shouting down the protesters and calling them unamerican.

It is not my intention to take sides. I believe strongly that healthy arguments in the street are essential to our national wellbeing, but die hards insulting eachother as their weekend activity does not fit this need.

The counterprotesters' lack of interest or poerhaps ability (no insult intended) in intelligent debate. Their tendancy toward ad-hominem attacks, rather than focusing on the issues, indicates their might-makes-right doctrine. I am uncomfortable making this call, and I hope to see a change in their methods, but I see them as simple bullies at this time.
