(Sunday) The Community Church of Boston's mission is advancing Social Justice. This house of worship is hot! I coincidentally attended three events at CCB in one week. (See: Jill Stein for Governor, and Ecofeminism Teach-In) A small fountain, a plant, and gourds laid before the podium add to the cozy, earthy atmosphere. Services are non-sectarian.

Sacco and Vanzetti
Said to have been convicted on account of their heritage, Sacco and Vanzetti are the poster boys of America's degradation of Italian Americans. This low relief (basso) plaque adorns one wall of the Community Church of Boston. Each year on the anniversary of their murder (execution) the CCB commemorates these men.

Falsely Convicted
After an inspiring performance amid the earthy decor of the Community Church of Boston, a death penalty survivor told his story of being convicted and serving 20 years in prison before his eventual vindication and release. In his case, as is he norm, Prosecutors and courts fight against any effort to overturn convictions, even when confronted with irrefutable proof of innocence. His conviction was based on testimony of a convict who was treated to a sentence reduction in return. This also is a common practice.
